Hallooooooo!
As promised, kind of, here's today's blog post. Internet is super slow though and it's super late, so my apologies in advance for the many typo and grammatical mistakes.
Then, as some of you may know, I left today for my trip to Croatia with my sister Tine and good friend Jill. We'd plannend this trip waaay back in March so it's has been a long time coming ^^ Today we took the plane to Zadar and from there will drive to Dubrovnik, stopping at the Plivicji lakes and Split along the way. Roadtrip!
The journey to the airport, going through check in and customs went all very smoothly. I had to ask my sister every single time what was happening though. Airport are foreign to me x) Before we knew it we were seated on the plane, up in the air and of course I had to take the standard photo-of-airplane-wing. Hej, I like my mainstream snaps x)
Good product placement for Ryanair x) |
Landing was smoothly (did you know the plane lands itself? It's completely automatic!) and upon leaving the plane it was clear that it's going to be one hell of a hot week. Temperatures up to 35°C oO!!
Anyway, that part of the journey was nice and uncomplicated. But trouble started when we wanted to collect our car at the car rental office Hertz. Our car was not available and we either had to wait 4hours until it was available. Or we had to wait for 2 hours to get a substitute car that we'll have to return the next day in exchange of our reserved car. Safe to say, it was total and utter bullshit. And lack of compensataion offered from Hertz for this inconvenience. Thank god there were about 10 other car rental companies around, so we walked over to 'Enterprise, rent a car' to see if they could offer something that was within our budget and no 4 hours wait. Unfortunately, Enterprise did not have any cars available, but the guy at the counter was so helpful. He called the other company they are kind of working together with in these crazy busy high season period. To cut a long story short, we cancelled our car reservation at Hertz and had a car immediatly at our disposal at Rent a Car+ it's waaaaay cheaper than Hertz! Client service was on point, eventhough the guy at Rent a Car did not speak a word English. But it all worked out pretty well. Een geluk bij een ongeluk, we'd say in Dutch x)
Once we had our car, it was straight to the 'villa' we're staying in. It's super close to the beach, the owner of the villa explained all the things to see in Old Town Zadar, best places to eat, etc. Amazing and super helpful.
At 7pm it was still super warm so we decided to go for a swim, at freaking 7 in the evening! Beautiful sunset :)
After our evening swim we walked into town to have some delicious dinner and have a little wander around. And that's basically our first day here in beautiful Zadar, Croatia.
Voila, that's it for today :) I can't garantuee a daily blog post this week, but I'll sure try my best :)
Thanks for reading!
