Blogmas day 12, 2014: You have to take the stairs

Halloooooo!!

Today I particularly thought about this quote as I've been watching interviews and behind the scenes clips. I've always been interested in them and it always makes me wonder where they all started. What did they do before they made some success in the industry. How many rejections they had to deal with. It interesting to know which director was originally going to direct that movie or which actress was first casted for the roll...

We only get to see the glamour side of the film industry. The red carpet events, premieres, award shows, the interviews, etc etc. It is easy to forget that this kind of job (actor, actress, director) is one that deals more frequently with rejection than other jobs. You have to be bloody motivated to keep going and keep training and keep auditioning/pitching in the hope that one day, you will score a roll/movie that will change your life forever. But success rarely happens overnight. Almost everyone that has success now, had to work their way up. Of course, you have the few exceptions, but that is what they are: exceptions.

There is no elevator to succes. You have to take the stairs.

An elevator is fast and easy, whilst taking the stairs takes time and requires a lot of (physical) dedication. And to be honest, you can miss a step and trip...

I've been thinking a lot about this quote today and I can't agree more. How depressing it might be x)

Thanks for reading!
